hmn 2600 would have been better.

I wonder why did ASUS go with a turnable webcam in F3Se? As it seems, it won't be flush with the chassis` front edge. Although my particular F3 model doesn't have a webcam, I like the old static implementation more. Though I do like where they put the fingerprint reader.
-
Interesting, there seems to be an e-SATA port on this version. That's a plus compared to the SV version with Nvidia card...

x2500 versus the 8600M GS
hoping to see which will perform better -
Yeah its a shame they didnt use the x2600 but the difference in performance might not be to great.
-
I think we have to wait and see.
I will like to see how it fares against the X2400.It might be a good cost-heat-performance combination.
Who knows, it might even turn out to be some unlockable chip like the 6800LE and 6800NU. -
Im still considering the F3Sv but if the price/performance gap between them is good I might go with this instead.
-
Hmm ... I'm thinking the X2500 will come close to the 8600M GS, possibly. I'm not even sure if the X2500 is DX10 compatible, considering ATI cards aren't supposed to begin appearing in laptops until July ... We'll see, I guess.
-
Yes, I think that the 2500 will be pretty comparable to the 8400M GT and the 8600M GS, probably slotting between the two in performance.
As for the rotatable webcam, I think its because static webcams are next to worthless. -

I love how no matter what the specs are (unless all are maxed) people ask "why didn't they go with (insert the product one level above the product in it here)?"
I think they didn't want the G1 market to drift over onto the F3. If that happened all of the Ensemble's mainstream gaming eggs would be in one basket. So to speak. -
Yet they put the 8600GT in the V1, a bussiness orientated model.
-
matt_h1 can you confirm that the V1 will sport the 8600GT?
well it does hit the 2K mark so i would be surprised if it didnt too -
Err... a x2500? Possibly a re-branded x1400 or x1600?
There is no way that it will match a 8600.
ATi's DX10 graphics cards have the HD 2X00 designation.
Shame on AMD's confusing naming scheme! -
Hopefully it'll be an R600 core. -
http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39030092,49290208,00.htm It also appeared on the cnet.com.au website. Lists 1200 pounds as the price.

AS for the V1, it has the elegant style of a business laptop, which I suppose can be said about the styling of the F3 compared to the G1, so I dunno.

ATI is doing that rebranding thing again. They did it God knows how many times. I bet it is a DX9 cards since all of the DX10 card starts with HD. Probably a rebranded X1600. Like the X2300 cards, which is a rebrand of X1300. This is really lame.
Btw, the HD series is already shown on ATI's website. http://ati.amd.com/products/mobile.html The highest is the HD2600XT, which they call it the "Ultimate graphics experience for performance notebooks." I think we could assume it is the high-end card from ATI.
F3E and F3Se announced with x2500.
