ReadyBoost worked on my computer using a run-of-the-mill USB 2.0 flash drive, but I haven't had any luck yet with the SanDisk Extreme III 2.0GB SD card I just bought. SanDisk thinks that the internal reader may not be fast enough, and external readers aren't supported. WTH

It's your Sandisk card. It's not fast enough. Fast sequential does not mean Fast random read write.

My A8jp (uses same hardware as your f3j), works fine w/ readyboost on the internal card reader, except it causes sounds to delay and pop, so it's effectively useless.

The card I have is the fastest on the market, and is categorized as ReadyBoost-compatible. What kind of card worked in your internal reader?

Various have worked. A 256mb panasonic (60x I think?), even Mini-SD cards have worked (with the adapter).

I think it's something with my computer's reader. I tried formatting the same card in another computer and it took less than 15 seconds, in mine it takes about an hour. What gives.

If I'm not mistaken, Sandisk Extreme III cards are plenty fast (faster than 60x, I believe)

I've heard of Extreme IV, but I still think IIIs are still fast, though

"the SanDisk Extreme ™ III line of CompactFlash â , SD ™ and Memory Stick PRO ™ digital film cards. The CompactFlash and SD cards have minimum write and read speeds of 20 megabytes per second (MB/sec.).* "

Yes, that's what I was saying. It's one of the fastest SD cards out there. I don't believe the Extreme IV line has carried over to SD yet, only CF. I guess my next question is if other people suffer from horribly slow card reader performance on their Asus.
