    Hi from France !

I'm the owner of a asus F3JP for 10 months and it seems that I'm not lucky with it.

    - First problem :
For a few months, very oftenly now, a screen problem happends. Some pixels flicker purple or green in a way that it depends of what it is displayed in the same time. It happends both in Windows vista and Linux Mandriva.
When I manipulate the right hinge of the screen or close/open a little the lid, the problem disappears for a few minutes and usually come back after.
The phenomenon is very close as if I had make a screenshot, opened it in photoshop, used the magic wand tool to select some close pixels and then inverted colors of the selection.
    Example :

Do you now this problem ? Will I have to return it for repair ?

Second problem : the embedded Tsstcorp TS-L632D does not manage to burn some CD-R (verbatim) or DVDR it used to burn before...

    Video Problem
It looks like your video card is overheating. The reason I say this is that those "anomalies" you see are rendering artifacts. I suggest you should try running 3D games or benchmarks like 3Dmark06 to confirm if you see similar problems. If indeed it is overheating, I am positive that your system may crash or show severe artifacts almost instantly. I don't think the closing of the lid or using the hinge is the problem. Rather as you are manipulating the hinge or lid, the force applies pressure to your overall notebook, which could be tightening/adding pressure to the video card thermal cooling device eliminating that problem for a short while. This is just a speculation though. I suggest you should RMA your notebook.

    DVDRW Problem
You might want to try updating the firmware. Try www.rpc1.org and look under Toshiba or Samsung Laptop Recorders for the same model number. However, I do believe that the drive's laser may be deteriorating and may lead to complete burning failure in the long run. You may want to include this as part of the RMA, however this will be more difficult to prove as ASUS would be speculating whether the media is the problem.

I wait a reply from Asus for the RMA.
