For those of you with ASUS Notebooks that have a front microphone jack next to the SPDIF output, I'm wondering why when I plug a mic (actually a headset) into the Mic Jack, I can't pick up anything I say into the Mic.

My aim is to be able to use my headset for Ventrilo, & have not ever encountered this problem because I primarily use my PC to perform this task.

Regardless of tweaking various volume settings for different devices, and hours worth of playing around with settings... I've not been able to pick up anything from any mic other than the built-in mic near the built-in webcam. That Mic "suffices" temporarily but this is becoming rather annoying.

One thing I noticed is that I can't plug the Mic all the way in. It goes in to a certain extent and stops abruptly, where as when I plug the headphones into the headphone jack, it goes in all the way. It's a tiny difference, but I'm wondering if it's the cause. I'd hate to force it in & screw something up, thus why I'm here shooting the question to NotebookReview.

Any advice is appreciated. This may only pertain to F3JVs & then again may not, I'm uncertain.

    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind... it was a PEBKAC error.

The problem existed between the keyboard and chair.

I was just being a scaredy cat. I decided to push the mic in further and it went in, just wasn't an easy insert & I didn't want to break anything. :)
