I'm a little bit surprised (disapointed ?) by poor performances of my WIFI connection.
I have compared with a DELL Inspiron 6000, hosting a 2200BG card (instead of 3945ABG hosted by F3Ja), comparison done by two laptops side to side, at the same place and the same time :
1) Received signal is always weaker on F3Ja than on DELL, and even, refreshing list of available networks, my DELL can detect some networks my ASUS can't "see"
2) Bandwidth on download is always lower on the ASUS than on the DELL (downloading the same file, from the same web site). Difference is not very high, but nevertheless significant.
Is there some "parameterization" to do on the network card ? Or is 3945ABG known to be less efficient than 2200BG (which would be surprising !)
Any feedback, and also idea to improve, are welcome !
Thanks

I am disapointed in the range of my 3945 abg card.
this card is on almost all recent laptops not just yours.
There is only one alternative in the same mini pci format and its an atheros card.
Because its so new I have no data as to its range increase. I will upgrade to it someday almost certainly. I need added range. -
im interested in hearing about the first asus user to take out the intel 3945 mini pci card and replace it with an atheros card.
I mean, it should work. I dont know of any reason why it wouldnt.
I just havent heard about anyone doing it.
The card is optional in lennovos toshibas and fujitsus and probably some more.
3945 actually has a very bad reputation as i read more about it.
the third mini pci card on the market is actually dell only called the intel 1390 i think and its much better range, and cheaper as well.
Im not getting one for a while but im sure Im getting one. hopefully someone tells me its safe first....
