I have my F3Jp and have attempted to flash from 208 and 209 but cannot get it to work.

I have followed the various guides on here and used Easyflash and WinFlash (with the file from ASUS site stored on C/ file).

What happens is that it accepts the BIOS (ie winflasj says file is OK), the screen goes blank then it just seems to repeatidly attempts to access the DVD drive (I think its that sound and not it accessing the HDrive). Made me sweat as I though I had buggered my laptop. Have to press power button and power-down then re-start laptop where it just starts as normal.

I have flashed to 207 before and all worked fine - what am I doing wrong?

I'm assumin gthis is worth the effort - I was attempting to wipe and put latest everything on my laptop as its really slow at the mo.

BIOS updates are unlikely to alter the "speed" of your laptop or what you perceive as it's functional level, if I correctly understand what you're talking about in your last paragraph -- they generally just fix hardware motherboard issues/software conflicts. You're better off simply doing a clean xp/vista reinstall.

I was looking to the bios for power consumption and potentially clear up the screen issues (dead patch in centre and bit grainy).

    Just overhauling my laptop really.

Doing a clean install as well.

BIOS update very likely won't address either of those issues.

Battery life on all Asus' models is below par compared to competitors with similar battery designs, and if you're having problems with dead pixels or region of the screen you should be calling Asus if you're still under warranty for potential RMA.
