Hello,
I bought a F3JP a couple of months ago, it has a duo core 2, 1.6 processor and X1700 graphics card and 1 gig of ddr 2 ram. This is the 2 stick version of 512 Ram.
I know i should have looked in to it a bit more when buying but in general it has been a really good lap top with no problems.
I play games and just want to get peoples opinion of updating the ram to 2, 1gig sticks (kingston). How will this effect gaming if at all. Is it worth it as i need to buy 2 sticks (current $125 Au), maybe I should just get one stick and have 1.5 gig. Would two different brands of ram conflict?
I am currently running xp but will eventually go to Vista as i just received my free upgrade but not for a few months.
Would two different brands of ram conflict?
Also I cant find any drivers for X1700 ( I Know u can mod them but thats abit over my level) except the ones on the asus website for the a8j which are newer than the ones I currently have. Will these be ok for the f3jp.
Sorry if these are stupid questions but its my first laptop.
Any help would be great

It will affect gaming positively.

Depends on how much money you want to put into this. In most applications, the difference between 1.5 and 2 won't be felt. But in games, it will -- to some extent.
* Would two different brands of ram conflict? *
No.

Vista + gaming feels uncomfortable in 1GB RAM so if and when you upgrade to Vista at least 1.5 GB is recommended.
* Also I can’t find any drivers for X1700 ( I Know u can mod them but thats abit over my level) except the ones on the asus website for the a8j which are newer than the ones I currently have. Will these be ok for the f3jp. *
If they are not linked from the F3JP page, don't use them. Also, don't use modded drivers unless there are significant advantages to doing so -- many issues on this forum are due to modded drivers. If e.g. the performance boost is 5% it makes no sense to use drivers that might not be appropriate for your notebook.
