I noticed Windows Update seems to be preparing the way for Vista SP1 today. I have not done any registry hacks and have not tried to install SP1 in any way. But I noticed that Windows Update attempted to install "Update for Windows Vista (KB938371)" three different times and failed all three times. I downloaded the update as a standalone and tried to install it after a fresh restart and again in Safe Mode. But the standalone update failed to install and reported that it was unnecessary.
Could it be that my F3SA-A1 does not have any of the problematic hardware that KB938371 was intended to address before SP1 is released?
Could it be that my path to Vista SP1 will be smooth and simple?
Have any other ASUS users encountered this update today with similar results?

From Microsoft.com: "Update 938371 is necessary to install and to remove Windows Vista SP1 on all versions of Windows Vista. This update will be available on the Windows Update Web site soon after the release of update 935509 and before the release of Vista SP1."
I am especially interested in your feedback on these questions:
1) Could it be that my F3SA-A1 does not have any of the problematic hardware that KB938371 was intended to address before SP1 is released?
2) Could it be that my path to Vista SP1 will be smooth and simple?
3) Have any other ASUS users encountered this update today with similar results?
