My laptop is running really hot and I fear it is the G86 problem that Nividia is having.

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Well, the circumstances around when you obtained these these temps would help us a bit -- on idle, after web browsing/light use, after gaming how long, room temp?
Secondly, how often do you generally use the machine, and when was the last time you cleaned the vents/radiator with compressed air? -
I just cleaned the vents with air, I only use the machine at max for itunes and browsing and seeding torrents.
Those temps were after idling 5 mins after start up.
After clean the temps are only getting to 70 C. -
Those temps are pretty high. Are the fans running properly? Are the CPU and GPU adaptively changing clock speeds according to load? (they should, for good thermal & power management). (This feature is called "Speedstep" for CPU, "PowerMizer" for nVidia GPU.)
It wouldn't hurt to also open up the machine and remove the fan, and clean it as well as the heatsink fins. Blowing with compressed air is not a fully effective solution. -
Same problem, my laptop sometimes becomes too hot to touch, my AC adapter has now melted inside the laptop and the palm rest also gets very hot too.
I have an F3 series laptop too.
Eh, asus,- quality...no! -
After just under half an hour of this laptop being idle and some light internet use:
55 Degree CPU
58 Remote temp
My harddrive is just 40 degrees, and that is one which i replaced after the old one failed last month, one month after i brought it!
My temps are not as high as yours, maybe im getting incorrect readings because she is really hot right now! -
