b1 seems like it's a LOT better, but it seems like in the last few pictures, it is definatley not as bright. what is your personal opinion?
-
Is it just me or does the A1 have whiter whites? Anyway, I thought both notebooks had exactly the same components other than the processor? Also, my other thread asking about the F3SV quality was pretty much ignored, so I was wondering whether you could tell me a little about the build quality? Compared to, say, the HP Pavilion line, is it better or worse? I know it's worse than Asus's own V and W lines but is it comparable to the G line? Lastly, how's the construction? Would it survive my everyday use if I were to carry it around with me all the time as a student? Thanks!
-
a major differnece is screen, the resolution is 1650 x 1080? or something versus 1440 x 900 in the a1. F series definately does not have strong build quality, being plastic, but it's certainly not flimsy. probably the same as a mid-range del like the inspirons. probably would scratch easily, but nothign that would fall apart
-
Inspiron is Dell's midrange line? I thought that was Dell's budget line ... but having that quality just discourages me, isn't Asus supposed to have good quality overall?
-
B1 has higher resolution, but A1's 1400X900 is not bad at all, it's just the A1's screen have whiter whites. -
gentech, can you also tell me what ports are in the front, it just looks liek there are so many ports and I was a bit taken aback by it.

-
So.. what about build quality?

Thanks, Ken!

Better paint than the F3Jp??? Now I am really looking forward to it. I loved my F3Jp...

-
@Ken - What's your opinion on the A1 v. B1 screen? Obviously the B1 wins for sheer resolution, but which do you subjectively prefer?
-
So.. how does the F3Jp feel in terms of build? :S

It's plastic, so no fancy thinkpad style drops for it. I've taken good care of it, and there's not a single scratch on it. No keyboard flex, and it takes much force to get the screen to ripple. I was afraid of breaking the lid, before I could see ripples. My guess is that there's some space b/w the lid and the screen. Anyway, there was nothing to complain about the F3Jp. No faults, no services required. And it was definitely much better than the inspirons, and a bit better than the pavillions.
-
Personally for me the higher resolution of the B1 is just way to small. A1 is the way to go.

It really does boil down to personal preferences- I like sharp screens . Besides, these screens scale really well.
-
The higher resolution is a preference thing, I think (I prefer WXGA, I don't want to strain my eyes with WSXGA) but the superior viewing angles of the B1 cannot be ignored. If I had to buy, I probably would get the B1 (assuming equal price - which they aren't).

I got the B1 just for the sake of its screen. The faster processor isn't much of an incentive.
-
superior viewing angles = less privacy.. isnt it?
A1 all the way -

Superior Viewing angles= Girl doesn't get mad while watching movie.

Yea, the notebook could be on her lap, while she's on your lap

Hmmm... Now why didn't I think of it before???? I'll have to rethink my order now..... -
Thats probably the reason I got A1
