hi! i'm from brazil and i have some problems with a HP analog TV tuner and my Asus F3T

If i insert it on the slot the blue LED indicator flashes like it was going to power up but the whole notebook crashes to death, turning itself off. Like a secure procedure.

I have tryed the same card on a sony, a toshiba, a dell and an HP notebooks and the card works perfect!
I have tryed to use a USB to Express Card adapter but it does the same thing without turning the notebook OFF

Anyone with a light on this?

    Thanks!

Did you try inserting it while the notebook is off, and then powering it on? Maybe it's not hotswappable.

Otherwise, it looks like hardware, firmware, or OS/driver incompatibility. I can suggest a BIOS update... or downgrade. But I couldn't say how much chance you have to get it working.

You could also try it with another OS (e.g., if you dual-boot Vista and XP; or you could try a Live Linux CD or DVD. If it works in another OS, it's probably driver/OS issues).

There is also the following (unlikely) possibility: the Express card is malfunctioning and shorting out (or nearly so). That creates a large current; the other machines can take it due to better protection/insulation whatever, but the ASUS can't.

Or maybe the Express slot is malfunctioning on the ASUS. Do you have another Express device to connect, and see if the problem repeats?

I'm using an HP expresscard TV tuner (NTSC/ATSC/QAM) in my F3SV without a problem. Doesn't matter when I plug it in. Sounds like your expresscard slot in your F3 has a problem. Are you trying it with or without your external power supply plugged into your notebook? These things do suck a lot of power.

I'd try another sort of expresscard and see if it functions ok.
