I am in between choosing one of these two pc's, i was thinking of going with the 15.4" due to extra screen size which i would like but most everywhere i reas the a8jp is better than the f3jp.

Can anyone shine any light on this issue?
I will upgrade to 2GB so on the 15.4" it's easier but i want a good computer and would like to know honestly which one is best and i'll compare screen sizes with PC's at the local store.

I will be using it for graphic design and music production, when at home on an external LCD monitor, but at school i will use the laptops screen.

I have also read the F3jp has issues with the screen but it's the video cards fault, but they have the same one?

I do need a good picture since i study graphic arts/ design.

They all have the same hardware so i'm tied in between which one has a better keyboard, build quality, screen and it's better in general

    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

They are essentially the same notebooks although you will lose the DVI port if you go for the F3jp. I am not sure about the screen quality but it is known that the A8jp/s use slightly inferior screens (as far as viewing angles are concerned)

Also Newegg says that the F3Jp comes with 1GB x1 module so you will just need to add another gig to get your 2GBs as opposed to the A8jp's 512MB x2 were you will have to take them both out to get the 2 GB max.

EDIT: Never mind about the DVI port the F3Jp has one. You can see it in the pics on Newegg, even though its not in the specs.

i can say that the screen on the WSXGA F3Jp screen is beautiful... it's glossy, so if you have a problem with glossy lcds, and it picks up fingerprints like its' collecting them... but it's still a pretty screen...

EDIT: if it comes with 1x1gig stick taht's news to me, when i purchased mine it said 2x512 sticks...

Thats right: the wsxga model comes with 2x 512MBs of ram while the wxga comes with 1x 1GB of ram

As a side note this info is from Newegg which has been wrong in the past, so I am not betting on it. Newegg finally realized that Asus ensembles come with a 2 year warranty

Basically the F3Jp is a great option as well. Its got "better" resolution, 15.4" screen, only 1 stick of ram, and is built MUCH more nicely...but you are paying $200 more (for most that doesn't justify $200 before tax more for those who don't need more RAM and like the portability.)

    edit: i just saw newegg.com has a F3Jp now at $1300 instead of $1500. in that case i'd go with the f3jp > a8jp

    Timswar,

Could you look up your screen model number in device manager and post it?

Also, a lot of notebooks these days, LG screens especially, have sort of sparkly whites that look grayish. Does the WSXGA+ on the F3JP have this problem at all? Are the whites really white? It's hard to find anyone that has this screen and I've been wondering.

Link1313, newegg has two F3jps. The WXGA for $1300 and the WSXGA+ for $1500.

Hum its really a tough call. But I really Want to know who makes the the screens in the G1 and G2's. I hear they are super bright, white is really white no sparkles from cheap Glossy coating. I want a G2 screen on my XPS M1710. While they are decent, these new screens blow anything out of the water IMO.

vengance, the G1 screen is reported by users to be the same as the V1JP and Z96JS screen which is the CMO1523.
    200 nits, 500:1 contrast

timswar, are there numbers after the CMO? A model number would really help.
