I looked at every thread about this, but i still dont know if its better or not. Should i get a 2gb stick of ram for my f3sv-a1 or a 1gb stick? Any improvement in the overall performance?

what are some costs? How much will it cost you for the single gig, and for the 2 gig stick?

i have heard this as well, from quite a few of the members on this forum. If you can afford to buy the extra RAM, do it, you can never have to much RAM. but for me 2GB is enough.

yea its worth it....just got mine with 3gb 3 days ago. games and applications should run faster. check out the f3 vs g1 thread and ken showed that it improved the f3's performance significantly. however....my warning is that the f3sv is NOT a heavy load gaming lappy...i got GRAW2 and this guy can run it on lowish-mid settings with some lag. its def. a good lappy, but dont consider it as a desptop when ur gaming!!! (now i need to figure a way to sell this game i wasted my money on.....sigh) ;)

have you updated your drivers? this laptop should not have any problems playing any of the latest games on realatively high settings. People are playing FEAR on this laptop with high settings and still getting ~40fps

dont sell your game yet, it should be able to run well on this machine

i was getting like 130fps on CSS with high settings (until i upgraded to 2GB ram then it went down to ~80 for some reason)

If your performance goes down after upgrading your ram than it either means your two sticks for whatever reason does not work well with each other. But it can also mean that your motherboard does not like the ram.

Lastly it could also mean that the ram you purchased was cheap quality ram thus the timings are slow which is causing the faster stick to have to down clock its speed.

Also unless the game your are playing uses a lot of ram in particular you should not see any performance or GPU increase. And if you like running other ram hogging applications while you game then go for it.

I am writing a review for the Asus G2S-A1 and I have upgraded to 3gb of ram(Partiot, micron chips) from 2gb which may have been hynx or samsung I don't remember at the moment, I see so many.

I was saving these screenshots for the review but here is the difference it made in 3dmark06. (None)

The one with the SM2.0 Score of 1559 is the 3gb and the 1560 is the 2gb.

PS as a hobby I do a lot of photo manipulation, and I run a lot of ram intensive applications and even video editing at times... so was it worth it for me? You bet! Also a faster 7200rpm would be great too but one step at a time.
