Hello, I am considering buying an F6V with the T5750 Core 2 Duo and ATi HD3470, Does anybody here own one? Or any of the F6 laptop series? How's their reliability? Asus hints that we shouldn't have problem with the 64-bit version but you can't be too sure. I noticed some drivers were missing from the 64-bit Vista page, do you think the CD/DVD that comes with it will have them?

Thank you, sorry for the loaded topic. This is my first laptop.. I am not entirely comfortable with them but I have to have one.

I believe that all the driver CDs for the new ASUS models (V sub-series) contain 32 as well as 64bit Vista drivers.

I couldn't find it, not even in the sticky.

That would be nice, but how can I tell that they do? Do they say on the CD or do I have to check the contents? Sorry, the place I am buying from is acting too paranoid, they even refused to let me see the battery of the thing (3 or 6 cell)! If it wasn't for their cheaper price I wouldn't have gone anywhere near them.

I am not sure if it says so on the CD. The best way would be to have an F6V owner confirm this.

I don't think there is an owner's lounge for this model. You could start one ;)

I have an F6V and I looked at the asus download page. There is are some drivers for the F6V but a lot are missing (ATI driver, Functional keys) or are for other hardware configurations (e.g. intel integrated graphics). I think officially only vista 32 bit is supported. It ships with vista business.

I can always get ATi's drivers from their site I suppose. I suppose Intel might as well have it on their site. It's the other stuff like PCMCIA and stuff. I really don't want 32 bit Vista. 64 just kicks ***.

How about make an image out of your current 32 bit install (using Norton Ghost, or Acronis True Image), and simply installing Vista 64 and trying the drivers? Since you have the image, if things go wrong you can be back up and running in 32 bits in half an hour. Shorter than the time you wait for somebody to answer to your thread here. :)

Thanks, but I was too late to read your post. I deleted everything on the HDD because it kept giving me errors when I tried to dualboot. Anywho, x64 is working great and all of the drivers I need are x64 compatible!

PS: Good lord, the original OS was so overwhelmed with crap. Do all laptops have this much bloatware? I wasn't worried at all when I deleted the 32bit Vista because I disliked the crap on it.

Asus has not so much bloatware...Try a Sony laptop and then you know what tons of bloatware are.
