Recently bought a F8P. I noticed that in the manual it says it will stop charging the battery when it is full, but recently I found that the battery could only charge to 99% and it just stops there, but it keeps charging. I was just wonder if this will decrease my overall battery durability/life...

You should try to calibrate your battery. (there is a BIOS option to do it, takes a few hours so reserve a time slot in advance)

If afterwards it has the same behavior, you might have a faulty battery. But post back with the calibration results.

What OS are you running? If you're using XP you might try running Mobile Meter to see if the battery is still receiving charge and you can also check the battery wear level.

I have had a problem like this before myself, and the issue was that the battery had worn down about 15% or so and apparently Windows hadn't caught on and was reporting the battery as being permanently stuck at around 85% and charging, even though it was actually full and not taking any more charge. I resolved it by removing the battery, clearing my CMOS (my model had a reset button on the bottom, your mileage may vary), and reinserting the battery. Windows then correctly reported my battery level at 100% and would stop charging.

Also, you might try running the battery recalibration tool in the BIOS.

If you leave the system off, but the AC adapter plugged in, does the battery charging light ever indicate the system is fully charged or does it continue to appear to be charging well after it should be full?
