The North American model is supposed to be having an 8600GT at the request of the North American division of Asus (and the Asus resellers).

I'd personally rather have an F8Sa though; the HD2600 looks like it performs better than the 8600GT anyways.

That's good of them :). Pitty they didn't request it for the V2S-B1 :(.

Regardless, I can't wait!!! :D This might be the laptop I have been waiting for. My old laptop died the other week :(

EDIT: FTA "ASUS F8 NB will become the most dazzling a black 512MB!"
Does that mean there is a black version of the F8?

Sweet performance! My Vostro 1500 at stock clocks, T5470 (1.6GHz)/1GB/8600GT 256MB DDR2/Vista Business got just under 3000 as far as I remember.

The battery life, on the other hand....uh not so hot. I managed over 5 hours on the Vostro on a 9 cell (though that was on lowest brightness, wifi off half the time, and just typing and music). The F8 would be much improved if it got even 3 full hours - 2 is just kinda pathetic and sad.
