Anyone have any updates on the availability of the F8SA/F8SV in the States? Still the vague "third week in November" or anything more concrete?

A Norweigan store list a confirmed availability date of 13 November 2007 for the F8SA.

Asus ships by freight boats I think. There's no telling when they will arrive.

well you will be one of the first owners in the us like I was of the a8js so you can tell us about it.

tell us the lcd used using everest

    hd used is fine too.

first shipments usually give something like 5 to each dealer. then they start coming in once a week until about a month later they are mass available.

Im assuming that thanks to this laptop being announced mid summer, there are a ton of preorders that are going to be pushed out before they even think about shipping my laptop..... mid December seems like my new ownership date

Is there any way to see the detailed specifications of the 8600M GT for what I ordered?

    Are all 8600M GTs GDDR3?

    (What does that even mean?)

I contacted a local store (ICI computers), the response I got:

"F8SV-A1 will be available in about 2 weeks. The price is around $1368.
We will add you to the waiting list and inform you once it is in stock."

    Apparently theres a waitlist. o_O

from what i heard its all about the F8sv being in pre-order and all, what about the F8sa? Well its not like far off from the F8sv (only the gpu) and should have better battery life....

    Anyone know?

Cal if you really want the ability to change gpu's then take a look at the Asus C90 instead, 15.4" size class but much better "upgradability" all around.

    http://hattelco.no/ps.asp?it=134892&mlevel=190200

    GDDR2
    Havent got crysis yet.
Little bit heavy to be a 14", but it packs a punch :)
Batterylife I imagine would be 1.5hours with some stress to the comp.
It feels alot like the W3V, but its a renewed edition with a new chassis.
The contacts are left, right and back side. Alot better than on the W3V.
    The screen is superb, 1440 x 900 ( WXGA+ )
As always it comes with a nice bag, but a very small mouse in this one.
Fortunately ive still got the mouse from W3v :)

If you want pics let me know.

The keyboard is spillproof as far as I know, but some of the keys in the middle makes a littlebit more noise.

The "mouse"buttons makes alot of noise and is hard to press down as usual.

DTV/AM antenna connection - it has not. The connection is there, but its jammed with a rubber plug.

Review: Perhaps if I have some time, but not likely until the weekend.

Do you think you could comment just a bit about the screen? I'm considering the F8SV with the 1440x900 LCD (Is yours this resolution?). Do you find it to be bright enough and with decent viewing angles?

    Thanks so much!

I think its about the same as W3n. Good brightness(well you dont get blinded) but the angle could be better.

Can post some more pics tomorrow.

Much appreciations to Gorg, there seems to be no true reviews for this notebook yet

Well, my only true question is gaming, ive read about how the ati 2600hd benchmarked at 3100 or so, but i havent seen those listed on any U.S. sites :(

If you could run a benchmark that would be cool, other wise, keep using the thing, the more you can state, the happier alot of people will be :D thanks again

Would love to hear how the battery has been going for you on the F8SA.

If later on Notebook review can do a comparison of the A and the V models that would be pretty cool too. I hear the only difference in them is the video card, HD2600 for A and 8600GT for V. It'll be a good objective comparison of the cards as well.

    i have a question now

ive been looking at the performance of the ati 2600hd ddr2 and it performs well, but can it out perform a nvidia 8600m gt ddr2 with 1gb turbo cache?

depending on the answer, i will be buying my f8 TODAY :)

and any word on overclocking that ati card yet?
