So from what I've heard from a few people (I haven't installed XP myself yet, but that'll be happening tonight), that when running in Windows XP on the F8SV, that XP will not see the videocard when 3GB of RAM is installed...it'll only see it with 2 and under....

what I'm wondering is if anyone's had luck with resolving this issue or heard word from ASUS on a fix, or will I be stuck with having to pull a RAM chip and just have 2GB of RAM in windows XP when I install?

    Cheers!

It can not be solve without BIOS update, it happens to all Asus Ensemble notebooks except F3SA with BIOS 204:

    BIOS 204
    1. Fix “VGA device will disappear under winXP when system installs DRAM over 3G”.

You just have to pull out 1GB for now until they update the BIOS.

but 2GB running XP is not bad at all, you won't notice the difference. :)

    Edit:
Actually Irathi's thread might work for F8SV with 3GB running XP:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=146088

just scroll down to How to fix VgaSave on XP with 3-4gb ram section.

    Thanks guys!
Well, I until you posted that extra link, Ken, I was about to give up on bothering with XP til they put out a BIOS update (which from what I gather might not be very soon...)... I think I'll look into giving that a shot when I'm back from work today..

    Thanks a bunch!!

it can be solved. we have been shipping these with xp when customer purchased it with 3gb and 4gb. bios is nor required but is the only solution for you if you purchased from anyone but my self as it seems. issue is with the way irq is allocated to the system devices,. solution lies in the device manager it self.
