    Hi there,

I have an ASUS F8SV-A1 notebook, I tried to clean the fan and I followed the steps posted here. My problem is when I was putting back the screws, it accidentally fell beneath the ICs.

Can't seem to find it, can you help me on what to do. I am afraid to switch on my laptop because it might short-circuit.

Do i have to open the whole laptop?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Ollie

Yeah, I would strongly suggest disassembling as far as needed in order to recover the screw. You do NOT want a loose screw in there, besides ruining the fan it can as you say short circuit electronics.

Can't you tilt the laptop so that the screw falls somewhere in an easily accessible area?

    hi EBE,

tilting the laptop is no use. it seems that the screw is stucked somwhere.

can you help me on how to disassemble the laptop?

the area it fell is behind the slot where you connect the charger.

The info booth has a lot of disassembly guides:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=122632#disassembly

but none for your particular model... so you're going to have to infer/generalize from the available guides and that may not be easy.

Alternatively perhaps one of the resellers can help you with a disassembly guide.

    hi EBE,

    Thanks for the help.

I brought my laptop to the ASUS service center here in the Philippines.
I was surprised because of the swift and good service by the personnel, unlike with the other posters' encounters I read here.

Fortunately for me, it is now working again.

just another noob question: do graphic drivers affect gpu temp?

    thanks again EBE!

    god bless.

Yeah, I believe (from a purely theoretical point of view) that GPU drivers can affect temperatures. I expect not to a large extent, though.

I have not tested this in practice, though.
