I changed the memory that came with this notebook , 3gb of brand name "Hynix" , to 4gb of G.Skill. While this 32bit ed of Vista Home Premium see's the same 3gb , it's made an impact with the 3DMark score jumping to 3564 from 3364. All the other marks showed marked improvement with exception of CPU showing 1891 from a 1895. The Windows mark went to 5.0 from 4.8.
Wonder if the new memory caused such a big jump in scores ? It has a Latency 4 where as the stock had a Latency 5. It's odd how the system info pgm's see the 4gb of ram , including Vista's , yet the OS see's only the 3gb of ram.

This notebook is approx 24hrs old. As of yet very little has been installed. However I have installed FEAR. I run it maxed out & copied this info after running the test:
FPS = 20, 26, 32
FPS Distribution= 41% <-25fps 59% <->25/40fps Above 40fps = Zero
The specs for the F8Sn-B1 is here:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&l1=5&l2=26&l3=501&l4=0&model=2032
The B1 has the T8100 Penryn CPU @ 2.1 GHz 6/3MB On-Die L2 Cache

Is that asically stock i.e. no changes to power setting, stock drivers, ect.?
-
Otherwise it's what came out'a the box. -
cool! Hopefully you can increase performance by tweaking some settings and downloading the lastest drivers.
-
I guess I should have added that Vista Home Premium says I have a 4.8 score in its benchmark.
I'm putting these numbers out to give people some idea about these Asus F8Sn models. Fwiw...so far I've had no stability problems at all. -

I'm sorry for screwing up the posts & it coming out twice.
Obviously not too good at posting correctly. -
Thanks for posting all this info red616. I'm interested in the Asus F8Sn-C1 model, and these results will only go up from the already good scores which is awesome!
Those fps scores in FEAR are decent to play. I know a friend that has it so I shall be borrowing it when I get this new laptop ;] -
I just installed the Half-Life series & they all run fine maxed out.
This really is a great notebook. I'd recommend it in a minute. -
Well the best for my needs and wants anyway, sleek 14" absolutely teeming with power! Awesome.
-
Can you install XP Pro instead of Vista??
-
Don't see why not as long as you can obtain all the drivers for XP.
