I own an F8Va and recently updated my BIOS and in the process changed some of the settings. The computer will no longer POST or even display anything on screen. I searched around and discovered that changing the Intel TXT(LT) is a no no and will brick the computer.

There is supposedly a reset hole on some ASUS notebooks and when I emailed ASUS support about where it is on the F8Va they replied.

    Well, I couldn't find it.

So if anyone knows where the reset hole, or a CMOS battery that I can remove, is on the F8Va I would really appreciate it.

In my old ASUS laptop (Z70V), it was under the laptop and marked clearly. In the F8Va, I could not see that. May be somewhere hidden in the CPU/GPU compartment...

One thing that I have learned in the last several years is that "Do not play with the BIOS unless you are 110% sure of what you are doing..."

On my G71V its on the base, right hand side. Very small solo hole with tiny writing.

The other thing I found out is that next to the CPU heatsink fan, when you remove the cover, is a small 2 pin connector with red and black wire. This is the BIOS battery and unplugging it clears the BIOS (may be something similar on yours).

Yes, I to have played with the Intel TXT(LT) settings.

Look for the symbol > o <. That's BIOS reset. Most ASUS computers have it.

i also have the same problem with F8Vr, i couldn't find reset hole which was explained by the live support. he couldn't find picture either. :(

i wonder why there is an option in bios that can brick notebook. the stupid thing I have ever experience, the notebook is not possible to bypass POST.
next time, i can brick ASUS notebooks in the demonstration stand with a very easy way... *please don't try this at home*

    best regards,

    a little sharing.

F8Vr CMOS battery is located near DVD drive. It's possible to see it after removing DVD drive. But unfortunately, I don't know how to open bottom case to reach it. :(
