Anyone know what this yellow card is? Looks like there is NO extended battery for the F8, it's a square battery.

F9dc
Looks really nice, I like the black scheme more then the silver/black one in the older F9.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Looks like mxm gpu.
-
The yellow card looks like the graphics card to me, but no cooling?
-
-
Perhaps the HS on on the other side? Athough it does like like we are looking at the core and RAM banks from the side shown.
-
The cooling is underneath, metal heatsink & dedicated airflow so don't worry
-
Thanks for the link, cori. I'm interested in buying an F9Dc... I just don't know if I can handle the 12.1" widescreen. It's a tad small... argh, decisions decisions.
-
Hmm, yea. F9Dc is very enticing because of the low, low price. I mean, instinct tells me to go for the F9S, with the C2D processors, but I wonder if that fact and a couple of other minor upgrades are worth $300.
And the F8Sv wasn't expected to have an extended battery, since it was built off the A8 platform, which also uses a square (rectangular?) battery. -
Inverted MXM like on the A8 again, I guess..
-
wow F8 is quite stellar looking,
now the battle (which one I want to buy) between F8, V1S and C90 will really heat up -
-
these pics of the f8 have been posted before, but its nice to see em again!
one of my local stores at pacific mall here in toronto is doing all the orders for em starting bout a week and a half ago. said they should be in sometime next week. dont know if he just said that to just try and push me to get my money down or something though. as soon as a couple reviews go up, and there arent any huge flaws with the f8, ill be picking mine up. cant wait!!! -
Does anyone know when the F8 will be released in NA ?
Regards, -
im quite positive the release date is still unknown, but from what i hear its sometime mid october, tho late october/early november is not out of the realm of possibility. there are a couple online retailers doing preorders for them. try contacting them, although i doubt they know any more than we do.
-
If, as you guys say, the F8 has MXM graphics card, is it possible to upgrade it then?
-
Possibly, but there is no guarantee.
I really want to try out the F9, but argh, nowhere has it in stock in Canada...! -
Well, its reverse MXM, like the G1s, V1s, and A8J/S, so it is technically compatible with those. However, Ken at Gentech PC said that swapping graphics cards in these models may not work due to an incompatible vBIOS, and afaik, nobody has tried it yet, so it may or may not work.
Personally, I want to try swapping the Go7700 of the A8Js out for the G1s 8600GT. It would be pretty cool if that worked. -
I've been waiting for the F8sv since forever...seeing this only makes me want it more! But I'll wait for a review first (just to be sure).
-
According to ExcaliberPC:
The F8 will be released by early October, and the shipment is scheduled to arrive during the 1st or 2nd week of October. -
i came across this forum thru google, been trying to find release dates and i know you don't know def dates now, everyones been guessing, but how do you get the final dates? just keep checking until they are in stock or is something posted somewhere?
also, i read someone saying certain places allow preorders.. would anyone be able to give me a link?
trying to decide a good gaming machine for a trip coming up in dec..
F8
C90
or G1s
thanks for any info you could give -
Shoot, Asus called and told us that the F8SV-A1 might be delayed to Mid of November. Sorry to inform you about this news.
- According to ExcaliberPC
darn...I was hoping they'd stick to their original date... -
Mid-November? Why don't they just wait for Penryn to come out and then release it?
-
So it turns out the F8sv doesn't have a 8600GT but a 8600GS...Total let down
very disappointed. Might as well wait/hope for a 8800M 15.4" or a 9600GT... *sigh*
-
Wait, wasn't the North American spec model supposed to get an 8600GT?
If not...tell me again why there was so much build up about it? Asus has botched this one pretty badly, worse than Dell and their new colourful Inspirons and XPS M1330, I'd say. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Thats dissapointing the f8sv was supposed to be a powerhouse of a 14 inch.
-
False alarm! (I hope) -
lol, i guess asus figured, "psssh, what would those asian kids need with a better gpu?"
-
Well I suppose it's kinda good because it *may* give us like 10 minutes more in battery life
-
Any word on the F8sv? Its the 2nd week of Oct already!
-
Wait until the second week of November, and we might actually have an ETA thats a date, not a general time frame such as "mid-to late November".
