Perhaps the HS on on the other side? Athough it does like like we are looking at the core and RAM banks from the side shown.

Thanks for the link, cori. I'm interested in buying an F9Dc... I just don't know if I can handle the 12.1" widescreen. It's a tad small... argh, decisions decisions.

Hmm, yea. F9Dc is very enticing because of the low, low price. I mean, instinct tells me to go for the F9S, with the C2D processors, but I wonder if that fact and a couple of other minor upgrades are worth $300.

And the F8Sv wasn't expected to have an extended battery, since it was built off the A8 platform, which also uses a square (rectangular?) battery.

im quite positive the release date is still unknown, but from what i hear its sometime mid october, tho late october/early november is not out of the realm of possibility. there are a couple online retailers doing preorders for them. try contacting them, although i doubt they know any more than we do.

If, as you guys say, the F8 has MXM graphics card, is it possible to upgrade it then?

Possibly, but there is no guarantee.

I really want to try out the F9, but argh, nowhere has it in stock in Canada...!

Well, its reverse MXM, like the G1s, V1s, and A8J/S, so it is technically compatible with those. However, Ken at Gentech PC said that swapping graphics cards in these models may not work due to an incompatible vBIOS, and afaik, nobody has tried it yet, so it may or may not work.

Personally, I want to try swapping the Go7700 of the A8Js out for the G1s 8600GT. It would be pretty cool if that worked.

    According to ExcaliberPC:

The F8 will be released by early October, and the shipment is scheduled to arrive during the 1st or 2nd week of October.

Mid-November? Why don't they just wait for Penryn to come out and then release it?

So it turns out the F8sv doesn't have a 8600GT but a 8600GS...Total let down  very disappointed. Might as well wait/hope for a 8800M 15.4" or a 9600GT... *sigh*

Wait, wasn't the North American spec model supposed to get an 8600GT?

If not...tell me again why there was so much build up about it? Asus has botched this one pretty badly, worse than Dell and their new colourful Inspirons and XPS M1330, I'd say.

After some for digging you might be right! I suppose I jumped to conclusions without doing much research...On asus' global website the F8sv has the 8600GT but on the asia site it says it only has a 8600GS.

    False alarm! (I hope)

Wait until the second week of November, and we might actually have an ETA thats a date, not a general time frame such as "mid-to late November".
