Hey guys, my f3sv fan makes this loud vibration sound. I took the back case off and took out the fan. When its not sat in its case, there is no noise, however, as soon as you put it back in, the sound comes. I have a feeling the plastic is slightly bent, thus causing the vibration sound (correct me if im wrong). Does anyone know if it is possible to buy just the fan module and where from. Im in the UK. Cheers

Buying parts may not be necessary. You said that the noise is present only when the fan is inside the chassis, there is no noise. Chances are thats because the spinning fan is vibrating right up against the laptop case; usually manufacturers solve this problem by putting foam around the edges. Make sure the fan assembly isn't just vibrating against the chassis.

Yea, its only when its inside the casing that the noise occurs, even if i lift the fan slightly about half a centimeter directly up out of the casing, the sound stops. I dont think the fan is hitting anything inside. The whole module itself isnt hitting anything. This is what the module looks alot like (but thats upside down):

Is there any diy way i could do to fix this myself?

If there is no vibration when the fan assembly is not in place, then there must be a place where the assembly and chassis are touching and vibrating. If the assembly didn't come with any sort of foam lining to protect against this kind of vibration, you should be able to fix the issue by applying it yourself.

The foam that notebook manufacturers may be a heat-resistant type to deal with the high temps from the fan assembly; same with the glue holding it around the edges. I am wondering, did your computer come with any of that foam? How was the fan assembly secured? I am not sure whether all notebooks use foam to reduce vibration, but you could use any kind for a short time; just to test if the solution works.

Did it just start making the sound or was this a issue from the start. You'll also have a increase in noise from the air traveling through the vent slots, that may be why when you lift the fan it quiets down.

No the laptop was silent when i first had it, you could hardly tell the fans were on. Its pretty much a recent thing. I sent it for RMA, along with some other issues, but they seemed to have just not bothered fixing it.
