I bought my NB in the June of last year, but just two monthes later, I found the CPU fan never stopped. The noise from the fan was even larger than that of my deskpc and has made me nevers for half a year. Here who can help me to reduce the noise or adjust the fan speed on the CPU temperature? Thanks a lot!!

I guess this is a problem of Bios. Does anyone know if it's useful or even possible to change the M5's bios to S5's?

I don't think there's much that can be done. I have the same problem, and I only bought my M5 in December. The fan is constantly on, and it is very annoyingly loud (lots of other people comment on it when they come into my house and it's on; louder than my desktop was - in fact it sounds like the desktop did when it was loading up a CD-ROM or something).
Luckily there are enough other things I like about the notebook to still be generally pleased with it, but I do wish there was a way to sort this.

You can download a program called Speedfan to turn OFF the fan if you wish... google search "speedfan" and you should come across it.

ASUS M6800Ne, P-M 1.5 Dothan, 512MB Ram, Toshiba Combo drive, Samsung Spinpoint M 40G HDD with 8M cache, Mobility Radeon 9700

...and potentially damage your notebook. In all cases (well, except the case of the A2D notebook) the fan is always turning for a good reason.

That is correct, although a lower cfm fan can be used and still stay on all the time and still stay within operating temps very easily. Speed fan is a software way of basically doing the same thing.

    Thanks,
