My laptop is not even a week old and I'm already having problems :( It's a U53J (bamboo) laptop

So basically, my laptop's fan goes to maximum speed whenever I turn it on. It does this when it logs in to windows.

It's the bottom (top left) fan that's giving me issues.

Occasionally this doesn't happen but I'm guessing it's because it was packaged poorly and it probably damaged the laptop when it was shipped.

So I'm guessing that's the problem?

    Anyone else experiencing this?

My laptop is not even hot. Like I said, this happens when I turn on my laptop or even when I restart my laptop.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure how this laptop's designed, but I would try looking at the heatsink assembly to make sure that something holding the heatpipe against the CPU or GPU isn't broken. The fan speed is determined by the temperature of the chips, not chassis, so while your computer may not feel hot, a broken or poorly assembled heatsink assembly could cause your components to overheat.

Download HWmonitor and check your temperatures.

On another note, Mmy N50 started doing that because the ACPI was reporting temps of 105C while the individual CPU, GPU, HDD sensors reported temps that were rather cool. Disassembled parts of the laptop to check for something wrong, didn't find anything, reassembled and works fine now.

Thanks guys. I wish I were a tech geek so I can open up my laptop.

    Unfortunately, I don't have such skills :(

At the moment, removing my battery and putting it back in seems to solve the problem 90% of the time.

    Anyone know why?

P.S. I gave both of you guys +rep.

    Cheers.

EDIT: can't give tijo rep since I must spread the love :(

When I get a chance, I'll give you rep again.

If it's not even a week old, see if the seller will replace it for you. Make sure the replacement is new as manufacturers will try to send you refurbished stuff.
