Hey guys, I just bought an UX32VD and upgraded the ram and to SSD. Reinstalled windows 7. I realised on my Windows Experience index my Win Aero score is 4.6 and graphics is 6.3. I went to the store today, checked the UX32VD at the store and it's Score was 6.6 for both Win Aero and graphics.
I did a fresh reinstall, tried different drivers and seems it's always on 4.6.
Plz help~

Windows Experience Index is not the least reliable. It can show whatever, so don't base your view of the laptop on that alone. For me it shows 6.3 for both Desktop and Gaming performance, but in reality it's performing just as it should. Try running 3DMark11 and your score should be around 1100, that's the most reliable way of making sure the graphics are working alright.

Try it with the stock RAM before you call the unit faulty. It's possible that your RAM isn't entirely compatible.

UPDATE: Seems it was the ram D: changed it back to stock and the rating jumped to 6.6.
Ram I used was Kingston: KVR1333D3S9/8G
Still getting the blank screen sometimes when logging into windows. Any1 else has the same prob? -
Maybe the the RAM you purchased. I was checking the forum and on one of the forums someone was talking about the different RAM that if you may have purchased the wrong one.
You may have purchased the RAM with the speed of 1333 and not 1600. They said they you have to purchase the CL11 that has the 1600 speed.
I will try to find that forum and put the link on here later. -
any resolution to this one?
I also reinstall the windows 7 and SSD and got 4.6 aero index with CL10 Ram. 5.0 withe CL11 Crucial 12800 Ram?
I installed the latest intel driver from Asus and Nvidia driver.

The Kingston product code : KVR1333D3S9/8G is 1333MHz. Try it with 1600MHz memory.

If i close + reopen the lid (ie. i send it to sleep for 1-2 seconds), i get picture. Also if i connect the laptop to a HDTV while the screen is blank, i there's picture on the HDMI output, i can even switch back to the primary screen after that with the FN + key combination.
It happened with the original windows + original HDD, now it has a 128GB Samsung SSD + Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + latest drivers it happens the same way. Approx. every 5-10th boot ends up with black screen.
However, maybe there's something to do with Windows updates, because when i bought the machine, played with it for a while before letting windows to download and install updates... i don't remember encountering this issue. Also when i installed the SSD and put a fresh Win7 on it, it seemed to work normally.. Then i let Win7 to install all sorts of updates and now i'm getting this again...
To me it seems more like a driver issue, but who knows.
Together with the fans spinning up at 50c then spinning down at ~47c it's a bit of a letdown.
Faulty UX32VD?
