I need a desktop replacement that doubles as powerful gaming gaming machine, and I am looking into the G2S A1. I would appreciate it if you guys (and girls) could give me feedback on you G2S A1's, and tell me if it really is a poweful gaming machine that can play the latest games at high settings and res. Thanks!

I'd look at Sager, though the 8600GT GDDR3 is impressive on the G2s, there are Sager/Clevo notebooks that are more powerful.

Sager's not really much of an option, as I'd need to get the notebook near by (GTA) in person, and I trust Asus more than Sager (don't ask why). I'm more looking for feedback on the G2S rather than further recommendations. But thanks anyways!

Ah, in the GTA. Then, yea, the G2s is pretty much the only option, nothing else can be found in stores with the same power(Dell 1720/Sager/Toshiba x205/etc.) Considering the $50 rebate with the G2s, it'll be right under your budget, though with taxes, yea.... :(

The 17" MBP is an option though.

Ya, I know it's my only option for intensive gaming... I just hope it really will suffice for intensive gaming!

And I really don't think I'd switch over to a Mac...

You shouldn't worry about if this system will play the latest games because it definitely will and it is the best system for its price as of right now and is the best system with the 8600m Gt card in my opinion. It is certainly a powerful machine and if you don't mind playing future DX10 games on mostly medium settings then this machine is definitely for you. The thing is the weight. This 9.6 pound monster is not friendly on the road and I would suspect that if you are going to go on the road with it then make double note to have orthopedics on speed dial.
Or you could opt for its brother the G1S-A1 which has the exact same power except it pales in comparison when it comes to size and weight and screen size (15.4"), and this could also be used as a desktop replacement I believe.

Thanks... I have no PS3, XBOX 360 etc., so this will be my game console. I just hope what you're saying is true!
