    i have the d1,
running ubuntu jaunty and XP Pro on it - and I love it :)

    Pros-
    good performance to weight/price ratio
14" is just nice for me
ati 4650 is one of the best gpu's on a 14"
    ports - 5X usb (2 behind, 1 on left, 2 and right), 1 eSATA
    7200rpm hard drive (vs 5400)

    Cons-
battery life *sucks* (I get <2 hrs in ubuntu just doing web surfing and homework)
no option for higher capacity batt either (batt is in a corner instead of at the back)
laptop tilts if you remove the batt (see above)
top of touchpad is flush with the palmrest, so i accidentally touch it when typing - I just disable touch-click and use the touchpad buttons / external mouse
keyboard requires more force than the chiclet buttons on a 1000he (the only thing i have for comparison)

also note that for me at least, the fans are always on low speed (almost never off), even when idling. It's not something I usually notice though

    Thanks for the help!

Anyone knows any other good performance 14'' laptop with a better battery life and that still gets good gaming performance?
