So I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on the Asus G51 laptop, from best buy. However, I have some questions that I hope some of you can answer.
My first is that of the Processor, the P7350. Is it capable of running today's, and tomorrows games, efficiently? I've seen the optimization guide, but was wondering, even with the optimization, would it be smarter to buy a P8600 or similar and replace the stock processor? Also, can the P7350 run modern games without the overclocking or undervolting? I assume I can easily follow the guide, I was just wondering.
The second is battery life, I've heard it only has about two hours of battery life, is this during gaming? Or casual use?
Third, it runs a single GTX 260m 1gb card. Can that also keep up with a somewhat future proofing (Of over 2 years?), I ask this, because I've been running an x1950 for over 3 years, and it's only started to die. I want something that can last me. Given, I understand that the BB version has a low resolution of 1366 x 768, which is less graphic intense, making the 260 able to handle it. However, right now I play on an external at 1650x1080, and am wondering whether I will see a giant difference in the visual effects on games like WoW or CoD.
Thanks for taking your time to help me out with my research. I hope I get the feedback needed to make an informed decision on purchasing the laptop!

For the most part, games suffer from lack of video card power, not lack of CPU power. And, since you would have a mighty GTX 260m, you'll be set even for games like Crysis. Just note that more modern games, like GTA4, will need more CPU juice, and a lot of games that feature a lot of units on screen, like Supreme Commander, would definitely require overclock.
But several owners have already upgraded the processors--Skii has a T9800, while Sentry has a X9100--and that will definitely punt around more CPU-heavy tasks and games. Maybe not as good as the QX9300 I'm trying to get to work, but there you go.
But I would definitely recommend a CPU upgrade if you're comfortable with doing it and can find a good processor.
And I'm probably underestimating. -

Also, the G51 has the best performance to price ratio in 15 inch laptops out there.
Unless you want to install a new CPU by yourself, the next laptop that is for gamers would be the Sager NP8662 which is about $500 more expensive than the G51.
If you venture into the 17 inch territory, there are several options like the G71 or the Gateway p-7811
