    Hi, I have an Asus k55vd sx404h and I want to find out if my laptop supports SATA III because I should buy an SSD;
    I already knew that a SATA III SSD is compatible with SATA II and of course I could still take advantages over a regular HDD, but it would be even better if I'm on SATA III.
    Is there anyone who can help me please?

    Greetings.

    Hello and Welcome to our forum :)

    Based on the homepage for your device: Notebooks & Ultrabooks - K55VD - ASUS, your laptop uses a chipset that does support SATA 3 (6GB/s): ARK | Intel® HM87 Chipset (Intel® DH82HM87 PCH)

    I think your laptop probably does support SATA 3
    These are results from a K55VD that has an SSD installed: PC Test Results - UserBenchmark
    The speeds are SATA 3 level.

    To be 100% completely-bulletproof-sure won't-go-wrong certaint you can go ahead and contact ASUS support
