Does anyone happen to know which speed of firewire port the M70vn sports? I'm utterly unfamiliar with the connection.

    Thanks all!

Firewire 400 would be my guess.

The connection would be FW400. Two reasons to support this conclusion:

    1. Asus spec sheet lists it as IEEE 1394. This was a common alternate designation for 1394a (FW400) - it would be 1394b if it were 800.

    2. Apple was the only one back then that was putting FW800 into their portable systems.

Further, for multimedia notebooks built in those days, the only reason for a firewire connection was that some miniDV camcorders (mostly Sony) output FW400; I can't think if anyone ever released an -800 camcorder.
