I bought a WD Mybook 500GB external HDD the other day... USB 2.0 and Firewire connections... The disk works fine via USB on both the g1s and my old desktop pc... I installed the so called firewire drivers for the disc (got it from the WD site) but the disc doesn't do anything when I connect it through firewire...

This is the first firewire device I am using in my life, so I might be doing something wrong... I guess it should work like USB though...

I checked the Device manager, everything seems to be fine with the firwire controller... I tried both switching the direction of the firewire cable, tried both firwire ports in the disk... it still is dead on firewire, but works on usb...

    any ideas?
