    Hi,

I´m getting my Asus A8JS tomorrow, this will be my first laptop.
I was wondering, once I open it, if I´d have to do full battery charge, but... for how many hours ?
Should it be like a regular battery charge proces? or it would be better if I do the charge for a considerable amount of hours (12 hours or whatever) ?

    Thanks for the help!

it wont hurt to give it a full 8 or more hours charge as per any rechargeable battery on first use. (but you'll find it will stop itself after around 2 to 3 hours), just leave charging after that still

Yep, I also do it with the computer turned off, but I'm a bit paranoid due to V6J battery problems... don't know if you can keep yourself from turning on the computer :)

But maybe leave the battery unattached until the evening and let it charge with the computer turned off overnight.

Once it stops charging you are good to go. There is no trickle charging for Lithium Ion batteries. You might however want do a full discharge on your first cycle help calibrate the battery capacity calculations.

But do not discharge before charging from the storage 40% to 100%! That's important.

Agreed. I should have been more specific.

The prime charge that was used widely for Nickel-Cadmium batteries is not used for Li-Ion batteries. For more info see the battery guide and BatteryUniversity.com
