    Im looking to buy my first laptop this week and have a budget of £700 - £800.

    My main usage will be as follows;

    1: Internet Usage - Downloads & Web Page Veiwing.

    2: A Good Wireless Conection.

    3: Cool & Quiet.

    --------------------------

    Im a bit confused about the following though;

    What are the advantages and disadvantages so far as heat and noise vs performance by chosing a Core Duo or a Core 2 Duo chip ?

    Do I need a dedicated graphics card if I dont intend to play games ?

    Do I need Blue Tooth if I have no gadgets to connect ?

    Will I have contoll of Fan Speed & CPU Frequency ?

    ---------------------------
    This One Asus F3Jc-AP040P ?

    that gpu may be fine

    I recomend getting a discreet gpu with at least 256 mb ram

    The wireless card in almost all new laptops has reasonable wireless range but not anything that great.

    I basically have the same configuration (without a webcam and Bluetooth)...
    Sure, it is relatively cool, but not so quiet as I hoped it would be.
    Yes, you will be able to control the frequency with either Power4Gear or Notebook Hardware Control, your choice. I chose HNC after using P4G.

    Is it the fan or hard disk noise that bothers you ?

    Can the fans be replaced with quieter models ?

    Have you tried IBM disk managment to make the disk quieter ?
