Haha.. thanks for covering your back there..... I've seen people in other forums who put a disclaimer on every post saying "they can't be held liable for things they post" .. something I consider sometimes.
Drop me an email or im.... I'd like to know who your brother is and if he bought something recently, or if you happened to catch me in the forum after the fact...... and if I should know, I'm sorry... just been really busy lately (there's my disclaimer for having a short-term memory)[]
Thanks,
Justin

How are the viewing limitations more noticeable for you when you're playing WoW? I got the impression the angles wouldnt be an issue if you're sitting in front of the notebook...also, forgive my ignorance, but is 80 C a ridiculously high temp? was the fan very loud at that speed? Thanks!
-
Regarding viewing angles, the W3V is pretty limited in that regard. I was playing WoW last night in the hotel and it was really noticeable. My 14" ibook has a much wider tolerance than my W3V does. I think it just takes some getting used to. I think that it should still be enough for airplane use.
I'm really liking the W3V overall, though I highly recommend Smilepak's thread using RMClock to adjust the voltage.
http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15492
My W3V was hitting 80 degrees C without it at stock voltages and the fan was revving up to 2500rpms. Now I'm at 1.020 with no problems and the temps are around 68 degrees C under 100% load. The fan rpms now seldom go above 1500.

For those with the W3V as well: is the second memory slot on the bottom with the cover that has 6 screws [the upper left]?

Oh... you know... Matt's a common name, and the S5 is a common product..... but when I read that I knew instantly who you were talking about. So how come you post over here and he posts over on NBForums? [

I was actually banned from those forums for making a "racist comment." There as nothing racist about my comment, though. I simply noted that someone had poor english skills and then commented on outsourcing.

argh.
I was about to order a much lesser model... but this is soooo nice!
I just ordered it and spent $800 more than I was planning. Now I have to try and hide it from the GF long enough to enjoy it! -
Hi,
I'm new here, i'm about to make a purchase for w3v from agearnotebooks.com, are there anything that i should know about from this reseller?
By the way, am i still eligible to have the *free* Asus WL-330g if i purchase w3v from proportable.com since the pre-order is over?
Lastly, is this memory that i had search from newegg.com compatible with w3v?:

Sorry Mr. Boo, but I think that PROPortable promotion is over.
Also, agearnotebooks has a pretty good reputation... so I wouldn't have anything to worry about. And yes, I think that stick of RAM should be compatible with the W3v.
Enjoy your new notebook. []

Sorry, There aren't even any 330g's in stock..... one of the reasons we upgraded the customers to the more expensive 530's and the wireless hard drive kits. But those were a gift for waiting in line and taking the ups and downs related to the pre-order.....
Sorry, can't continue it now (plus it'd tick off customers who feel special for getting them in the first place).
Thanks,
Justin

I can say first hand that when the guy in front of you reclines on one of the smaller Northwest planes you can forget it. Even with the laptop in my chest and the tray pulled all the way forward I couldn't use it. And I wanted to watch Dodgeball too.... [xx(]

Hmm now that I do think of it, yes it would depend on the airplane. I took a flight to Hawaii last fall and although the intercontinental flight was fairly roomy, the connecting flight (OH to IL <60min flight) was unbearable; stupid jets (4 seats to a row; 2 on each side).
My legs were at a 90 degree angle give or take 5 degrees. I can't imagine there being room for a 14 wide if the person in front reclines. I do remember the guy next to me watching a DVD but I can't remember if it was a portable DVD player or maybe a 12 inch laptop.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

I'll tell you what........ if you're unlucky enough to get stuffed into a tiny seat..... you're not going to want to take our your laptop anyway. An hour flight is over pretty quick...... I'd barely bother taking my laptop out on a flight thats barely under 2 hours.... But you'll have the width for the W3 on normal planes....... and you have the height of a 12"... which in this case makes the W3 more useful in a situation like this than a V6 would be with the extra height on the screen.
Thanks,
Justin

A 14" lappy is the most you can safely use in any economy class cabin.
Ideally a 12 "lappy is the best for economy class travellers.

right... but a 14" widescreen... is the height of a 12".... which I'd agree... it's the tallest screen you can use.
Thanks,

Has anyone noticed that the w3v doesn't make much noice from those tiny speekers.

The speakers aren't super loud, but they sound pretty good to me. I mean, for listening to a CD while I work, or for watching a DVD, they're great. But then, I'm not a gamer and don't need the sound of explosions and gunfire to rattle the windows like some people do.... [
