I purchased an Asus G1S-A1 in September, and I was for the most part, happy with it. Until I got blue screened while uninstalling something, and can no longer boot the OS off the HDD or the recovery disk. This happened Sunday. I called their tech support, we went through some steps, then I was told that I would have to send it in, and I'd get instructions in my email the next day. Tuesday rolls around, I still have no instructions, and this is after sending an additional technical inquiry to them on Monday. I need this computer for school; without it I've been reduced to pretty much living in the library to do in homework. So I wanted to get it out to the repair center as quickly as possible. Truly been an awful tech support experience so far.

might just be a hiccup in their tech support. It is known to be very good and they pay the postage both ways, they might even send you a new one.Basically, they have been known to have one the top tech support around. I suggest you call them again instead of emailing and explain what has happened. By the way, waht did you uninstall, maybe you took out something from the OS.

I should say, if I try to boot, it'll get to the black screen with the green loading bar. Then it'll being to show the Vista images (the weird blue, abstract background), then I get BSOD'd with a stop error. I'm guessing its the RAM, but there is no way for me to check without voiding the warranty (replacing the RAM would tear the warranty seals over it) so if I'm wrong, I'd have screwed myself.

I opened an RMA two Saturdays ago and received the email with RMA instructions the following Tuesday around noon. So it does take a couple days, but they do pay for Fedex standard overnight shipping.

Theres no warranty seals on ram, just CPU. You can try taking out one of the sticks at a time to check if one of them is corrupted. If so, time to upgrade your ram to 4GB then ask nanya for a replacement set and ebay it.

    memtest86 to check the memory

if that shows up clean, you can install Ubuntu for the time being, to get you through most tasks well enough until you can send the computer back.

If you know anyone with an XP/Vista disc, you can try reformatting as well. It honestly sounds like bad ram, or a crapfilled Vista install.

did you call their office in Fremont? I called them 2 weeks ago, and they confirmed everything and said they'd send an e-mail in the next few business days, I never got one.

LOL, the same thing happened to me with BF2 before, don't take it so harsh. Take off the branding and a computer is a computer, down to the hardware. It's all about how its configured to be honest.

I had the uninstall BSOD too when I first got mine (from best buy). I think it was the norton that came pre-installed. After I did a fresh install without the bloatware it's been perfectly fine.

And FYI, in order to boot from the recovery disk, you have to hit "Esc" during the boot.

I'm well aware of having to hit escape.

Anyways, I got my email on Tuesday, gave it to Fed Ex today, it'll be on its way tommorow I guess :\.
