    Hi,

I've recently bought an n53sv laptop, which as I found out later, is affected by the cougar point issue. (In my country, instead of taking 'em off the shelves, they are still selling the affected laptops. :( )

I called the semi-official warranty provider company (no official asus service providers in my country), and after a while, they've called me, saying they would change my laptop's motherboard. However, i'm not entirely sure they know what they're talking about.

So, do you think replacing the motherboard can actually fix the problem? Because if not, I'd rather not have my lappy opened up to its core for no reason.

Yeah, if it's a non-affected motherboard. There is something about the chip stepping that lets you check that, but I'm not 100% how to check if they only change the board and not the chip.

You mean a sort of software that tells me whether the issue is actually affecting me?
