There are a couple of issues, one of them involves the CPU being loaded constantly, which was fixed in one bios revision. Then there was an update to the hotkey driver which got rid of another issue (the one I had with the synaptics touchpad processes). If you're on the latest BIOS and atk drivers this should not be an issue. There are a few people who have sent them back in for replacements since nothing fixed it for them. That's all I know... there could be more

well, if i do get it, ill just be sure to update everything right away! (and hope that fixes it, because they only have 1 at my bestbuy, so they couldn't give me another if something were hardware  )

what i could dig up, is its a low level (as in firmware or bios) driver issue, which can be (usually) fixed by using newest bios/drivers, and possibly disabling the pointer all together in the bios

OK here again is the checklist: update bios, update ATK drivers from support.asus.com... update NVIDIA drivers, uninstall symantec antivirus, disable scheduled defragmenter from event scheduler, disable drive indexing (or remove indexed locations), turn off superfetch. Try my script in the thread I linked to above as a last resort.
