Sorry to start a new thread about this and all, but I'm relatively new when it comes to doing this sort of thing. I was just wondering if anybody could help me out on how to update my Bios. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

I just did the update on my G51J actually. It's really simple.

1: download the BIOS from here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=450046 and unzip the file into a folder.
2: Open Asus WinFlash program and browse the BIOS file
3: Click "Flash" button on the program and let it do it's thing
    4: Reboot the computer.
    5: Profit

Oh btw would the fact that I have a G51 VX mean anything? Or would the same things still apply

    Oh dear lord.

    Only flash a G51vx BIOS, not a G51j or G51jx.

Unless, of course, you want a bricked system.

Alternatively, you can use the bios flash utility from the bios... I think you just leave the unzipped bios in the root directory of the boot drive, and select it from the asus EZflash bios option.

Just make sure you download the bios from the page for your model. There is a BIOS upgrade on the G51vx page, but the change it makes has to do with the num lock light being on when you are in set-up. Not something that has been worth flashing a new BIOS to me.

DO yourself a favor and use the BIOS utility.

Much less risk of windows screwing up your flash.
