When I first got the notebook, I tried out the contrast and stuff with the Fn key and it worked perfectly fine. It would show a really cool button in the middle of the screen. But now, when I use the Fn key and try to adjust contrast or volume, etc. it lags a lot and instead of having the settings displayed in the middle, it's not at the top left corner. And sometimes it takes at least a minute fore it would respond.

Anyone know how to fix this? I think I pressed Fn+C that might've affected it. I'm not sure.

Edit-- Nvm. it sees that I disabled some startup programs.

Yeah, namely ATKOSD, ATKHOTKEY (Hcontrol), and if applicable ATKMedia should be running.

Make sure they are not disabled at startup, and if there is still trouble, reinstall them.

Thanks EBE, but I do have another question.

Is it possible to adjust volume/contrast while playing a fullscreen game? And does it take a while before the command is processed when you have a game running?

It shouldnt, on my F8SN-C1 I can change volume, contrast, and mute/unmute on the fly while playing Crysis with every setting on high, or same with Oblivion with everything maxed, no lag or anything, but occasionally the screen will flicker like its trying to change to window screen or something.

Same here on my B1 model. Except I have different games. :)

The screen will flicker because of the ATKOSD animation. If you stop the ATKOSD process, the volume changes etc. will happen in the background, with no flickering.

Or at least they should. I never tried to do this.

I'm thinking it lags because of the game I play. I haven't tried any other games though.

I think that lag is quite normal. It happens to every system I used that has some overlayed notification. There's a short lag when I adjust the volume or brightness on my M50Sv-a1 because I believe those overlays do not actually "hook" into the render of the game (as opposed to what FRAPS and RivaTuner framerate indicators do). So the card chokes for a little bit until the little volume/brightness indicator animation is done.

Same thing happens on my desktop with my logitech keyboard. Caps Lock, Num Lock, etc have on-screen indicators. If I accidentally push those keys during a game, it lags for a little bit and then resumes normal speed after the indicator disappears.

If the lag bothers you, ATKOSD is the process you want to end.

Well the lag is unusually long. It takes about 30s-1min. before it can process, with or without ATKOSD. The lag is still there even after I open the game.

However, when I restart, I experience no problems. It just happens as soon as I run the game.

Is the actual action that is lagging or just the animation.

The animations on mine are never spot on, but the action is almost instant.

Both the action and animation lag.

That does not seem right. My (f8sn-b1) has a slight lag , as Hybr1dz noted , but yours seems unusually long. Maybe you could try un-installing the ATK stuff & re-installing to see if that helps ? Have you installed any other software that could possibly affect it ? Sometimes anti-virus software can do things like that along with any extra spy/mal ware software.

Check your game settings and screen resolution in particular. When game demands resolution different than native, it takes a lot of resources to recalculate and execute and all this stuff

I don't think that's the case. I often play games on non-native res and use the ATK hotkeys, and there is some lag but it's small, also the icons flicker a little bit but it's back to normal within 2 seconds.
