Sounds like a problem with the ATK-100 drivers. Update or reinstall from the Asus site and that should fix it. The Hcontrol.exe is one of the 17 files in the update.

Ditto! Re-install the ATK0100 drivers and all SHOULD be well...

no luck, still getting error on start up and Fn keys not working. I'll give it one more go.

Also, does the fan ever go off? I have undervolted to 6x @ 0.700 and 14x @ 1.07 and my cpu idle temp is still around 45-47C

it might help to add that i have a z63a

Once the fan starts up... it will stay on indefinitely (in most cases).

Actually........ Asus' ATK drivers include all theremal management drives (like the ATK is supposed to) -- but it also controls all the hotkeys and function keys.....

If you're still getting an error - then something's up.. I'd restore the system back to before you had the error because reinstalling it isn't getting rid of it. I guess you could always try to delete them first and then reinstall........ but trying a restore would be pretty easy......

ok thanks guys i got it working
i uninstalled it then restarted windows, then it detected new hardware and i just let it automatically update it and it works

however, my touchpad scroll doesn't work... when i press on the strip, it shows the scroll icon on the pointer but it doesn't move the page up and down

Are you using Mozilla Firefox? If so, update your Synaptics touchpad drivers from www.synaptics.com

now the only con about my z63a is the wireless led (using intel wireless abg) not lighting up and the combo drive being a bit wobbly on the plastic oval part u press to pull it out

and **** the lcds are bright :) i had the laptop on in my room when i slept and occasionally the hd led would blink, it felt like one of those lightning flashes especially since it is blue... everything else i love
