lol, nah i was just saying that it is a big mall, but when you get 3000+ people in there at once, it does seem small :D

and the shops are indeed small...

except the ones near the middle but those dont count

That makes me sound like I'm rich or something - oh yes, my place in the Hamptons and my condo in Aspen - I forgot about those! [ :D]

It's far less glamorous than that - just my parents' house. If I weren't the most impatient person in the world, I'd just have whatever it is shipped there and then bring it back across the border myself, but I don't want to wait a whole month until I go visit! Plus, I'd still have to pay the duty eventually since I'm a good HONEST person. *cough

Oh and no, you won't have to pay the duty again I don't think if you send it for repairs. And if you do, you can totally appeal it because you should not have to pay taxes on something twice and the gov't knows that it can't do that.

    "Video conferencing"...right.

    Hey there fellow canadians!

In case anyone's interested...I found a canadian asus reseller that actually knows what the w3v is and that plans on eventually getting it...which sadly is more than can be said about most canadian asus resellers...it's etc computer (www.etccomputer.ca). I also asked them when they're expecting them and at what price point. They replied by saying that they honestly have no idea. They sound better and more responsive than most canadian asus resellers, but obviously this doesn't compare to what u.s. resellers like proportable are offering.

For anyone who's looking for the w3v but isn't in a hurry to buy, waiting for a canadian reseller to get it might be a more economical alternative to buying from the states and taking your chances with fees at the border.

By the way, i'm desperate for a new laptop myself (seeing as my old one is just about ready to die)...so i'm buying a w3v from the u.s and crossing my fingers that I don't take too much of a hit at customs. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Sorry for the barrage of posts...haven't checked the board in a while...i come back to find you guys discussing cybersex...yikes [ ;)]

Anyways, I'm also not crazy about the integrated webcam on the w5. Sure it can be useful for video-conferencing ...or cybersex for people who are into that kinda thing like sencha [ :p] ...but I don't like having it as a standard integrated feature. For those who don't want a webcam or who would only be using it occasionally, having it integrated needlessly adds to the weight and form factor of the notebook. It would make more sense (in my opinion) to include a separate usb webcam as an option.

Ok, well lets keep this thread on topic here.....

I think the topic was: How come Canadians seem to only get what the US wants them to get... and why? [ ;)]

OMG that is SO not what I meant. I was actually trying to avoid using the word BULLY because who wants to bring politics into everything. Man, talk about foot in mouth. I'm going to have to read every one of my responses keeping in mind who is reading them or everything I say is going to be misconstrued! [|)]
