Asus will change the name to “Powered by ASUS” instead of “ASMobile” ( before ASMobile, it was "Built-on-Asus" ). This will take effect with the new series (C90, C91, C80 and Z37).

The barebone notebook strategies will be targeting High End gaming.

Santa Rosa will be refreshed under VBI (S series), the only Santa Rosa ACI will have is Z37 series. Z35, Z62, Z84 and Z96 series will be refreshed to Santa Rosa under VBI (S Series).

Thats great! Too bad my next notebook will not be for gaming unless I get a superb deal. I figured that it is much more effective to build your own desktop system rather than buy a gaming notebook. So I am more interested in the non-gaming targeted Asus notebooks a bit more.

    Good news nonetheless.

Definitely good news. Not sure who thought up of such a ridiculous name as ASMobile, say it more slowly and it can be almost be derogatory...

The name ASMobile was slightly embarassing to have to say, a good move to get away from that short lived name.

I personally kinda liked the name AsMobile, although my preference for it is due to sinister intentions :p

    *in a sinister voice*
so now they have come full circle...

If I'm remembering correctly, they used to call their barebones "powered by Asus" before they were "built on Asus"
