How do you find the performance in games and dvd viewing? I havent tested it yet. Also, Nvidia cards have what they call DGC "Digital Vibrance Control" where you can adjust the colour and it brings your display to life. I was dissapointed to hear that ATI doesnt have any tweaking software to allow for better colour output. Or is there? Thanks

Well, ATI has ATI Tray tools, or Catalyst Control Center(I think), which is similiar, you can customize your settings.

The x700 is good in games, I'm not much of an FPS player, though I play MMORPGS and RTS games, at high settings, it runs like a charm

I knew someone would say it, buit thats not the same. Compare a Nvidia with sharpness and DVC turned up, it blows away any ATI out of the water. Its like night n day, thats how much of a difference it makes.

CCC has the Color tab where you can set Gamma, Brightness and Contrast for separate colors (RGB) for desktop and Full screen 3D. There are 3 test squares (color palette, gamma lines and gamma curves) where you can check your settings.

x700 is fast, easily over and underclocked (100/100). It can produce 25% better results that way. 2270 on default and 3100 3dmark05 at 415/435. Video works great. Colors are OK. Ati offers video transcoder/encoder in the desktop drivers that can be modded so it can be installed and used on the notebook. It is by far the fastest encoder I have ever seen.

    Hope it helps...

    Cheers,

The digital vibrance thing is overrated, trust me I have an Nvidia card and an Ati card. Well a couple of each.

Ati is far superior to Nvidia for video playback of any kind. Color enhancement is something more of a marketing tool, not something practical.

Adjusting colors is the real deal thing.

If you are going to be viewing a lot of videos over playing games I say go for an Ati. If you're going to be gaming more than watching movies, go for an Nvidia.

    Cheers,
    Mike

You're asking questions that all depend on what kind of hardware you have. BEST SETTINGS do not exist really. It depends on your monitor and videocard and driver set.

You can use the digital vibrance thing, but it does make things neonish. I set it to low, about 4 ticks up from zero. It also depends on your monitor as different monitors display colors differently. My 17" CRT from LG really sucks so I have to set vibrance up a bit and that's about it.

    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay. As Mike said - there is no easy way of setting the gamma, contrast and brightness. That is why you have those test boxes. It depends on your LCD.

In my experience, a small increase in gamma and small decrease in brightness would show a little blueish picture that can be compensated by choosing blue channel only and lowering its brightness. That way I get a little better picture. But I am very happy with my default settings and I don't see any reason to mess with it.

Try it yourself. That is the best advice I can give. :D

    Cheers,
