...I checked NewEgg today and they raised the price from $1350 to $1400 :(

I'm kicking myself in the for missing the $1200 (price error?) last week. I saw it at that price but I couldn't pull the trigger :(

Here's to hoping it will drop to sub $1200 once again around Christmas, as I need a laptop bad for school at the end of January

    I saw that too :(

And for a while they've been listing the A1 model at 1649 instead of 1599

I'm thinking maybe newegg isn't the best choice anymore, especially since Gentech is now listing the A1 at 1599 with the chance for another 47 dollars off with a check purchase.

Still, it would've been sweet to get the X2 at that 1199 price.

    Thats just crazy low

Either they are trying to recoup the losses from the $1119 laptops sold or they are just gouging the recent (IMO) popularity of the X2.

And either way, we lose :(

I think it is gouging since I think a lot of people missed the $1200 price. I'm just hoping I won't get dinged again.

I think so too but I didn't want to sound like anti-capitalist :p

Here's to hoping for a price cut around Christmas or after and I will definitely pick one up right away :D

I'm all for capitalism, except when I get dinged :D

Well, I'm getting one, price cut or not. There's nothing else with a 9800 and a 7200 rpm HDD at that price. But if they don't keep the price down, then the A1 starts to become a more viable option, and I definitely won't be getting the A1 from Newegg.

Today the Egg has raised the price of the X2 another $50, for a total of $1,450.

Now I am really regretting not getting the $1119 price.

It seems to me that there is a relationship between the number of reviews put up on the item and the price. Recently there has been a surge of reviews and consequently, a rise in price :(

Fellow friends looking to buy the X2, please don't give in   !!

Wait until NewEgg gives another great price :)

Man, for that price you can get the A1 (using the live.com $200 coupon).

BTW, I just looked, it is still $1400. But yeah, please DO NOT post any more reviews on NE. Or maybe just find a way to give it a rating of 1:laugh:

Newegg is playing with the numbers. Earlier today it was $1400, and 30 min later it's back up to $1450.
I'd say, just stick with an Asus reseller like gentech. Even the G50VT-A1 is cheaper than the X2 when you factor in the $200 live.com rebate.

Yeah, This really sucks because I bought a laptop that newegg advertised with the wrong specs so I had to return it, and now I just sit and wait while they "process" everything, I returned it on Nov. 21st and Im still waiting. Since then the laptop has dipped down to $1199.99 and I couldn't buy it. I just sit and watch the price go up :-/

I was gonna buy that X2 when it was 1349 as well, but figured it would go down more for black friday. Low and behold, they first took off free shipping, then raised the price twice hehe.

I've now purchased the A1 instead, and it actualy turned out to be cheaper after the live.com $200 off hehe.

It's now down to 15% cashback, but since it is supposedly capped at $200, how do you get it cheaper than the X2? Apologies for the stupid question, I'm neither a math nor business/accounting major.

EDIT: As of now, 02:40 PST, it is now $1450! :mad2: I'm going the cashback route...way to go Newegg.

    On Ebay Gentech has the A1 listed for $1599. $1599 - $200 = $1399.

    $1399 < $1450.

    QED.

Not really. It was $1350 for a few hours one morning. Most of us missed out, including me. Since then NE jacked their prices up twice, so consider yourself fortunate you got it at $1350!

Yes, it was only $1200 for a really short time. By the time I woke up and read the forums, it was already too late. The early bird really does get the worm?

Today, NewEgg has raised the price once again to $1,500, now without any discount off the MSRP.

Not looking good for prospective buyers of the X2.

Also, getting the A1 off an unnamed auction site with CashBack will not work any longer as CashBack is now only 8%.

Not looking good at all, guys :(

Yeah, I looked about 8 hours earlier and was pretty choked. All in all, the cashback still works out to be cheaper...I will wait for another day to see if the cashback goes up, but if not I will placing the order anyhow since it will take a few days to ship. I guess the early bird really does get the worm, huh?

Best of luck to those who need a laptop right away, but don't buy from NewEgg at this price :D.

so for 100 bucks more than the X2 you can get a better processor, backpack and mouse with the A1 from GenTechPC or BTOtech

Thanks for making my decision for me NewEgg, :p

seriously, the way they've been jerking the price around on that unit is just nuts

I hope people don't get robbed by paying 1500 for the x2 when it should be listing for 1250-1350, thats a heckuva gouge

Well, some people obviously are not affected by the recession. I have to watch my money more carefully now because it has basically made it very difficult to find a job when I'm finished with school shortly (lost an interview already because they couldn't pay for overseas candidates).

    no bag, no mouse...

I prefer to the G50vt-a1 $1609 in Amazon
$109=a better cpu, an extra hard drive to make a RAID 0, a bag and a RAZER mouse

Looky what we have here now, free market capitalism at its best. So Asus puts out a $100 MIR for the A1 and A2, and "magically" the X2 is down to $1350. So if you want an X2, better get it ASAP before they change their mind again!

I'm a little less inclined to forgive newegg

I know that "prices subject to change at any time" is just a fact of life now, but seriously, how often did that lappy fluctuate in price?

with that new rebate, i think 1499 for the upgrades you get with the A1 are still worth it over 1349

but I was leaning away from the X2 for a while now :p

    better luck next time newegg
