I was trying to get into my BIOS, but I missed the entry, so I forced a restart.

Afterwards, when I got into the BIOS and left, I accidentally caught myself into startup repair, but I didn't have patience. I unplugged the laptop and took out the battery. When I restarted, at first the systray icons looked funny. I restarted, and everything went to normal except Action Center forgot some of my preferences and it forgot my systray hide icon preferences. Also, my time got screwed up (which gave me a Windows Update scare), because I think the time in the BIOS was screwed.

I fixed those systray preferences. So far everything looks normal. What is the best thing to do with my computer? Should I do a restore to the last restore point, or should I just see how things go?

Nothing seems wrong at the moment.

I'd see how things go, but make sure you have a restore point handy if needed.

I have a restore point from the 10th. I am thinking to do a system restore during the Lakers game on Friday.

Do a chkdsk (disk check) before you do anything else.

Check your hard disk for errors

Also if you want to force off the machine in the future, just hold down the power button for a few seconds. Ripping out the AC and battery is only needed in extreme cases where holding the power button won't work.

    I'll try that.

It would not let me shutdown that way, so I had to de-battery

I did the error check, it came out clean. I am doing the system restore point
