Hello All,
I just purchased a used Asus T101MT (250gb) and need help setting it up.
The previous owner formated the HDD with two partitions for some reason, with (Cpartition only having 100gb and a (D
partition having the remaining 150gb. The (D
partition was "unallocated" so I went ahead and formated it to confirm 150gb was available.
He reinstalled Windows 7 Starter somehow, as there is no internal dvd/cd drive, and supplied a cd with an upgrade to Home Premium. I performed the upgrade via internet.
QUESTIONS:
1) How can I reformat the (cdrive to the 250gb and reinstall Windows minus a dvd player?
2) FYI, I do have a backup usb drive and am considering ordering a usb dvd burner. Should I wait on the dvd burner or can I attempt the re-install via the usb backup drive?
3) Where can I get a free program that updates the drivers automatically?
Thanks,
Ralph

With no optical drive built in, you can either use an external optical drive and connect it via USB port, or use a flash/thumb drive. To do the latter, you will need to use Microsoft's Windows 7 USB/DVD tool or WintoFlash.
Windows 7 USB/DVD tool: Microsoft USB/DVD for Windows 7
WintoFlash: WinToFlash Turns Your Windows Installation DVD into a USB-Based Installer
It's all up to what you feel more comfortable with as far as installation process goes. If you want to use the backup hard drive, I believe you can use the same steps in the links I provided above; just make sure the drive is formatted prior (no file system) and you'll need to set it as your boot priority in BIOS when you try it. Also, I think the drive needs to be formatted as FAT32.
