I just got my replacement W90 today, inside was one new thing that the old unit did not have. A little shiny blue phamplet between the lcd and the keyboard of the new unit.

    "Windows 7 Upgrade Program"

    Here is what it says:

Looks like I cant get it :'( but hey thats good news for Win 7 lovers that wanted to hold out till Win 7 was shipping with units to save cost. Now you can buy now (well end of this month) and get for free later.

I thought that was a nice touch to see the Win7 offer for buyers at the end of the month, too!

I would think the shipments are all in process of getting to resellers now, because my replacement w90 was sent out this past Friday.

I was planning to hold off buying anyway ... because I figure that after Win 7 is out, manufacturers would start designing machines to take full advantage of its features. I was planning to wait until end of spring 2010.

I have a z70va -- one of the last sold and it is working fine now. I just want it to last another year.

Do people think that makes sense?

I wonder if the B1 qualifies for the windows 7 upgrade that would garuntee 100% 7 compatible asus stuff for the G50V/VT's. (Our hot keys dont work anymore lol).

Is this only for Asus notebooks, or for all manufactures as well?

by when lol.... think about it.

The G51 will be out by then not only that there will be G51 models with 7 on them before that expires unless microsoft holds back the release very very far.

Very exciting news! I was NOT wanting to wait for the upgrade program to order my G51--now it sounds like the upgrade will go into effect right around release.

All manufacturers. Microsoft announced this a while ago.

I should have waited on buying my g50vt until the end of June!

The last rumor was July 1, so this actually moves it up a few days.
Yup. Microsoft confirmed the Windows 7 release date yesterday as October 22nd.

That's public release date with RTM looking to happen at the end of July. So I figure August for technet/msdn/volume licensing.

Yeah I just put Windows 7 on my 2nd hard drive and it installed almost all the hardware... can't find a driver it likes for the card reader and the hot keys don't work. I'm sure by the time Windows 7 comes out in October there will be drivers for everything by then. I'm glad NIVIDIA released a beta driver.

Anyone know if refurbs are eligible. The upgrade site doesn't mention how they are addressed.
