Hi folks, I know this has been asked time and time again, and I should have paid more attention to it so I apologize.

I am having an issue with running Windows Vista on my Asus G1, and wanted to install Windows XP instead to see if the Battery life is a little more reasonable than it is with Vista.

My question is ... how? I do just take a newly purchased Windows XP SP2 disc throw it in the DVD drive boot up and do the install like I would on a desktop, or is there a better method or preferred route?

I am downloading the XP drivers for the laptop from the asus site.

    Thanks in advance!

go into the bios and set it to boot from cd..

    put the xp cd in...

    reboot...

    and follow the instructions....

make sure you reformat and do a fresh install....

Right. Just enter the BIOS as IZZO said and change the boot sequence so that your DVD drive is the first boot device... stick the xp disc in and follow the instructions from there.

He'll have to create a new XP installation disc though with the SATA drivers or else he won't be able to install Windows.

Or just press ESC once at the ASUS splashscreen and select the DVD as the boot device only on that boot.
