Do any of the other Fn keys work? If you have an ATK Package to install do that or check asus.com directly for any for XP.

Thank you for your help. I downloaded ATK for XP and when re-booting gave error message mentioning it couldn't open ACPI ATK0100 kernel mode driver. Not understanding this I removed ATK program and re-installed ACPI and now the volume control keys are working fine. Just to help others I think my problem was that in the ACPI program from ASUS there are a multitude of set up files and I may have used the incorrect one and not installed ACPI correctly as all seems to work fine now, ..................I used Asus ACPI Driver.msi.

The ACPI program has in the main ACPI folder
    Asus ACPI Driver.msi
    Asus Setup.exe
    InstallEee.exe
    Setup.exe

In a Sub Folder ACPIPreinstsll has
    AsusSetup.exe

and the other Sub Folder UV has
    AsusSetup.exe

Nowhere I found any explanation of anything regarding the installation of ACPI.
I'm sure there are great people on here that can explain this in a few works and would love to hear for future reference.

    Many thanks for your assistance.
